Ruth Walker: Letter 4th April 1973

This letter is feedback on a new activity we had developed, as a result of Jennifer asking me if Chris “knew his tables”.

Go For Goal was the result of my discussion with Chris (he knew how to multiply), and this letter from Ruth was supported by letters from a number of pupils at Barlaston Primary School, where Ruth was Head Teacher.

The letter rivals the Function Machine as a popular way of understanding multiplication.

References in the letter to Sir Wilfred Cockcroft and Harold Fletcher show how the team was evolving and working closer together.
